Seemingly everyone eventually falls off their diet train. It's inevitable. But what most people DON'T do after they fall off, is get back on. Why? I find it comes mostly down to your levels of motivation.
Motivation is key in doing anything you love. If you didn't have such a thing, thing rest assured, nothing would ever get done. At least for me, when I see physical progress, I get really motivated, and continue doing what I'm doing, all that's what I would like to share with you today. Here is your task:
Take a picture of yourself. In the mirror, or have someone else do it, but it needs to be a a full body shot. And no, none of that pouty lip bullshit or the upper right angle MySpace crap, straight on. Preferably wearing nothing but your undergarments so you can see your entire body.
As the weeks go on, you will need to take a picture every week and store it somewhere that you wont lose it. This way you can keep track of the actual visual weight loss, while it may not seem like much each week, when you put the photo's together and go trough them, you'll be amazed.
-Just one thing to keep me motivated, Also don't forget to check out Chuck's Blog at : http://socialfitness.blogspot.com/

Starting slow.
So, the key I have found out with anything you want to accomplish is to start slow. Most people think like this:
I want to loose 30 lbs, so I must start: RUNNING EVERY day, Change my DIET COMPLETELY, go to the gym and do a LOT of WEIGHT.
Wrong.
You need to make small, but steady changes on how you adapt to this new life of exercise. First, I don't recommend diving into a diet, try this. Keep a food log of everything you eat and I mean everything. Down to the extra spoon of sugar you add to your cup of coffee. That way, after a week has gone by, you can see what is obviously effecting you the most. In addition to a food log, keep an exercise log on the adjacent page. My notebook looks like this, and this is what I really ate, don't judge me.
September 26th
B- Large bowl of special k cereal with a tablespoon of sugar
L- Zaxby's Chicken sandwich with lettuce and fries, sweet tea.
D- 3 ribs, not fully eaten due to amount of fat. Mashed Potatoes.
Snack- Bowl of special K.
Exercise:
Walked roughly 3.5 miles at an accelerated pace.
Secondly, Cardio. Cardio Cardio Cardio. That is probably one of the best things you can do for yourself when trying to tone/lose weight. Try to do 30mins to an hour of cardio a day. Don't dive straight into running either, you need to start slow, walk/jog/trot if you must. Also, music helps a TON in keeping you focused and motivated. Trust me, jogging down the street at 10PM dancing to Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" wasn't just amusing for me.
Key to being successful in this is accountability. Keep yourself accountable, keep your friends accountable. That way if you slip up one day, you don't get in the habit of it, and you bounce back.
Tip for the day: WATER You need to consume so many ounces of water to keep hydrated and keep your body burning calories. The way you figure out how, is by taking your body weight, and dividing by two. I generally subtract 5 from the total because I don't feel like drinking 95 ounces of water each day.

Start of something fierce.
First, Credit to Chuck Lenahan for the idea. He is also making a social fitness blog, which is where this idea came from. Link here: socialfitness.blogspot.com
Much like chuck, I have been trying for a long time to get that "Beach body" that everyone and their mothers like to drool at. After countless hours in the gym, and cheerleading, I wasn't seeing the results I wanted, so I gave up. Well now knowing what I did wrong, I am going to tackle this mother fucker into the ground. Goal: -30 lbs by January 1st. Seemingly impossible? You must not know me.
An explanation of the title of this blog. As most of you know, I am infatuated with Jake Gyllenhaal. No, seriously. So, my goal, is to eventually look like this. Minus the hair, or maybe the hair. But also as chuck says, I would like to get back into shape to tackle something fierce, for me, that would be playing soccer again.
So, I challenge you, readers/stalkers of facebook, and twitter, to join me, motivate me, or even -try- to BEAT me in my own goal. Just how many people can get off their butts and say they did something to better themselves? Can you?
